A Digital Journey into the Memory of Montecassino
Those familiar with MeMo – Memory of Montecassino know that its mission is to bring together memory and innovation, reviving – and making accessible – the written treasures of the Abbey. But every great endeavor also needs tools that can tell its story clearly and engagingly.
This is the purpose of the new MeMo brochure: not only to present the project’s goals, methods, and results, but above all to guide readers on a journey through Montecassino’s manuscript heritage. A visual and immediate narrative that combines rigorous research with language accessible to newcomers and enthusiasts alike.
Page by page, the brochure highlights how MeMo integrates manuscript and incunabula digitization, collaborative cataloguing, international partnerships, and the dedication of young researchers. It also offers a glimpse of the project’s next steps: the MeMo Digital Library, already active and expanding, and the upcoming virtual museum MeMo – ViAM, which will provide 3D reconstructions and multimedia experiences accessible to all.
Below you can browse and download the interactive brochure: an invitation to explore MeMo up close and discover how Montecassino’s medieval written heritage becomes a shared cultural treasure.
